Sometimes I take a detour to visit a botanical garden. Even though it is a man-made containment, for a moment it feels as if space is infinite and abundant.
The hidden Kingdom of Ming
For these four paintings Yana got her inspiration from the Chinese garden at the Hortus Botanicus in Haren, the Netherlands. This garden is based on the Chinese classical gardens of Suzhou. Prior to her artist in residence in Shenzhen, China, Yana had an exhibition at the Hortus Botanicus where, amongst others, these paintings were on show.
